Modelling using polynomial regression

چکیده

This paper is concentrated on the polynomial regression model, which is useful when there is reason to believe that relationship between two variables is curvilinear. The polynomial regression model has been applied using the characterisation of the relationship between strains and drilling depth. Parameters of the model were estimated using a least square method. After fitting, the model was evaluated using some of the common indicators used to evaluate accuracy of regression model. The data were analyzed using computer program MATLAB that performs these calculations. © 2012 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. THE COMPARISON OF TWO METHOD NONPARAMETRIC APPROACH ON SMALL AREA ESTIMATION (CASE: APPROACH WITH KERNEL METHODS AND LOCAL POLYNOMIAL REGRESSION)

Small Area estimation is a technique used to estimate parameters of subpopulations with small sample sizes.  Small area estimation is needed  in obtaining information on a small area, such as sub-district or village.  Generally, in some cases, small area estimation uses parametric modeling.  But in fact, a lot of models have no linear relationship between the small area average and the covariat...

Modelling of Adsorption of Zinc and Silver Ions on Analcime and Modified Analcime Zeolites Using Central Composite Design

In this study, Response Surface Methodology (RSM) using Central Composite Design (CCD) was employed to optimize the conditions of independent variables (adsorption time and ion solution concentration) for the removal of Zinc (II) and Ag ions from the aqueous solutions using analcime and modified analcime zeolites (Fe-ANA and Ni-ANA) as efficient and low cost adsor...

Determination of a Matrix Function in the Form of f(A)=g(q(A)) Where g(x) Is a Transcendental Function and q(x) Is a Polynomial Function of Large Degree Using the Minimal Polynomial

Matrix functions are used in many areas of linear algebra and arise in numerical applications in science and engineering. In this paper, we introduce an effective approach for determining matrix function f(A)=g(q(A)) of a square matrix A, where q is a polynomial function from a degree of m and also function g can be a transcendental function. Computing a matrix function f(A) will be time- consu...
